Josh and Damon—two blokes just mucking around on a boat—spent over a year preparing for SSANZ’s Two Handed Round North Island Race. Their boat prep, sail development, and training paid off because they scooped up a number of wins across the 16 day race period:
Won PHRF Division 3 overall
Won PHRF Division 3 on legs 2,3, and 4
Won IRC overall
Won IRC on legs 1 and 2, placed second in legs 3 and 4
Orakei Marine provided the dynamic duo with a mighty Jeanneau Sun Fast 3600 for the race. They geared the boat for upward sailing and the results showed—they beat all division 2 boats on line! Josh and Damon are looking to celebrate their wins at the upcoming prize giving ceremony. It’s being held this Sunday 26th March at the Devonport Yacht Club. Tickets include dinner and are available through the SSANZ site.
Some much deserved rest and relaxation are in order for the guys before they look to race again. Josh has hinted that they’re looking at the SSANZ ANZAC 150 which kicks off at Westhaven on Friday 21st April and finishes at Great Barrier Island. Considering their outstanding performance in the RNI, we’ll definitely be keeping our eye on them.
