After commissioning the boat and adding a few extra’s suited to the keen fishermen, the Merry Fisher 795 was transported to Mana-Wellington for her owner to embark on the ultimate test – the notorious Cook Strait!
The boat launched early in the morning with a swell running and .7m chop and a good 15 knot wind. Powered by a single 200HP 4 cyclinder outboard, reaching speeds of 32 knots and cruising around 23 knots the journey from Mana to the Marlborough Sounds lasted just 2 ½ hours. The owner was exceptionally happy with his Merry Fisher’s performance, commenting how well the boat behaved and performed in the conditions.
This journey across the Strait was just another example of how well suited the Merry Fisher range is to New Zealand conditions. The boat will reside in the Marlborough Sounds where the owner has commissioned a custom mobile cradle which will launch and retrieve his MF795 from his boatshed – watch this space for the photos of this in action!
