EXTERIOR

Hull & Superstructure

A blend of traditional and modern lines, the 44 Sedan is a beautiful and capable long-range cruiser. A no-nonsense exterior features fiberglass cap rails, Flexiteek or fiberglass decks and stainless steel window frames, keeping maintenance costs down.

The hard chine hull was carefully designed to provide good stability and economy at low-end speeds, while providing lift to allow for higher top-end speeds. A keel allows the vessel to track well, but you remain in full control at any speed with a large barn-door-style rudder. The rudder, along with the shaft and propeller, is fully protected. The planked look embedded in the fiberglass adds to the character and classic look.

The hull is solid, hand-laid fiberglass. This makes it both very strong and heavy, which adds to the stability. A vinyl ester resin is used in the outer two layers of the hull to prevent blistering. Below the waterline is additional protection in the form of an epoxy barrier. The stringers are made on a separate mold and then glassed into the hull so there is no coring to worry about.

The superstructure is made of fiberglass and cored mostly with a lightweight, closed cell foam material, increasing stability while eliminating the possibility of rotten decks. Rigid PVC squares are used in areas that require more strength (where the upper helm seat is bolted, for example). The hull and superstructure are a shoebox design that are epoxied and fiber glassed together for a strong and lasting bond.

Flybridge

The flybridge is expansive and has enough built-in seating for a dozen people, yet there is still room for a 10.5′ RIB dinghy, lifted by the standard electric davit. There is a bench seat on the port side that can be replaced with an optional, built-in, cook station. On the starboard side is a large, L-shaped settee with a table. Forward are two helm seats, both with excellent forward visibility. The upper helm has all of the same controls as the lower station as well as a standard Garmin suite of electronics.

One of the distinguishing features of the NP44 Sedan is the standard hardtop. It gives the boat the look of a serious cruiser and cuts down on canvas maintenance. From the waterline to the top of the hardtop is 17′, meaning the 44 Sedan can complete the Great Loop. There is an option to delete the hardtop and instead have a folding radar arch.

All exterior seating on the NP44 Sedan comes with Sunbrella covered cushions and canvas covers to protect them and the instrument panel.

Walk Around

The 44′ Sedan is built with full walk around decks, and a wide body salon (with walk around on one side) is also available. They are sized to be comfortable and safe, with high bulwarks aft and railings all the way around. All exterior railings are made of polished #316L stainless steel and the top rail has a 1.5” diameter for a solid feel. There are three bulwark doors making access on and off the vessel easy.

Flexiteek decks are standard under the covered walk areas, while fiberglass non-skid extends forward. At the bow is a bench seat, which is a great place to enjoy a nice evening. You can also pilot the boat from here using the standard Bluetooth system to connect to the Garmin electronics and autopilot. The standard 24v Maxwell windlass provides plenty of power to pull in the standard 280′ of 3/8″ G4 chain. In addition to this the NP44 Sedan comes with a Rocna 33 (70#) anchor, ensuring you have a restful sleep at anchor. The heavy duty stainless steel cleats can handle large diameter dock lines, and are thoughtfully positioned around the boat.

Cockpit

The cockpit is fully covered and offers plenty of space for a small table and four chairs. The Flexiteek decks give the area a classy look and keep it looking much cleaner than white non-skid in this high-traffic area. Under the cockpit is a lazarette with lots of storage, accessed through a gas assisted hatch.

The fully integrated swim platform is also finished with Flexiteek decks. It’s a large platform that is great for diving or enjoying a nice sunset on deck chairs. It is also optional to install a swim platform davit instead of the standard flybridge davit.

The optional integrated reversable cockpit seating creates the perfect place to unwind after a day of cruising. The backrests can be positioned to face either forward or aft. The teak table will make this your favorite place to enjoy a meal, just a few feet from the water.

INTERIOR

Luxury and Comfort

North Pacific teak interiors are finished to world-class standards with fine fittings and finishes. We’ve hired experts and spent years training our staff in the techniques that we use to attain the level of finish that we expect.

Real teak and holly flooring is standard throughout. The hand-crafted teak paneled walls, dovetailed drawers and flush cabinetry are all bookmatched throughout. In addition, we use routed trim with bent lamination to ensure that the color remains consistent throughout with no noticeable miter joints.

While the NP44 exudes a high quality traditional finish, we’ve incorporated modern materials to brighten up spaces and add a luxurious feel. Our focus on the high ceiling, large windows and direct and indirect lighting achieves the perfect effect allowing you to feel right at home on the water.

Salon

The salon on the 44′ Sedan is about 22′ long and surrounded by large windows offering a 360-degree view. The ceilings are 6′10″, adding to the feeling of spaciousness. The area is expansive and customizable. The aft part of the salon can be configured with a L-settee (convertible bed) on the starboard side and a table that can comfortably seat 6 for dinner. On the port side is space for two recliners or another settee. Alternatively, you can opt for a dinette on the port side with a settee on the starboard side or space for two recliners. With either option, the aft part of the salon makes a great living and entertaining space. If you have other ideas, we’ll work with you to create your perfect home on the water.

Galley

The galley on the 44 Sedan is a great place for the chef of the family. Near the salon, the cook will not be left out of the action and will have great views out the large windows. The galley is big enough to rival many larger vessels, making cooking enjoyable. Inset in the solid surface countertop is a large single- or double-basin sink. There are different drawer and cabinet layouts available with all the choices allowing for plenty of storage. A three burner Force10 propane or electric stove and oven is standard equipment, as is a 9 cu.ft fridge/freezer.

Helm

The helm area of the 44′ Sedan is similar to that of a pilothouse. It is slightly raised and separated by cabinetry aft of the two leather helm seats. A door right next to the helm, 360-degree visibility, a large rudder and an oversized thruster make handling in tight quarters a breeze. Furthermore, just outside the door is a bulwark door allowing for easy and quick access to the dock. Forward of the teak steering wheel is a raised helm and a full, standard suite of Garmin electronics. Even with the raised dash there is great visibility forward from the helm seats.

LOWER DECKS

Guest Stateroom

The guest stateroom comes standard with two single beds and they can be made to slide together into a larger bed. White headboards, plenty of lighting, high ceilings and a large porthole make this a comfortable space for your guests. Six drawers, a shelf, bedside table and generous hanging locker provide plenty of storage. The guest stateroom is customizable and we have several layouts that include an office with settee, convertible office/stateroom or incorporating the guest room into a greater master stateroom.

Master Stateroom

Aside from a great look and extended LWL, the biggest advantage to having a plumb bow, like the 44 Sedan, is that it allows us to use the full beam of the boat, farther forward. Because of this design, the 44 Sedan has a lower bed than most other boats in this size range. The bed is only one step up from the platform. From the platform, you can easily reach the front of the bed, meaning the bed is much easier to make. Though the bed is available in a true queen, the foot end is usually built with a slight taper, to increase useful space around the bed. A white headboard, high ceilings and a large mirror add to the feeling of spaciousness. The rope light and back lit, frosted glass cabinetry contribute to the warm and inviting feel of this stateroom. One of the best features of the master stateroom is the amount of storage that is available. The standard design has seven cabinets, two hanging lockers, five drawers and lots of space under the lift assisted mattress.

Many people worry about “chine slap” in a forward stateroom but we have addressed this concern. By raising the spray chine on the bow to over two feet above the waterline, we have eliminated chine slap, in all but the worst conditions.

Head(s)

The standard 44 Sedan layout includes one head, but there is a two head design available. The head is finished with teak walls/ trim and teak and holly flooring. A mirrored ceiling, large porthole and plenty of lighting make the space feel comfortable and spacious. A premium quality solid surface counter with an undermount ceramic sink, a mirror and two cabinets are standard. The Tecma Silence Plus toilet is reliable, quiet and comfortable. A separate shower stall is accessed through a frosted glass door. The shower has a molded seat, large porthole and quality shower fittings. A 6″ mosaic strip adds a touch of class. The shower drains to a Whale gray water diaphragm style pump that does not require screen cleaning.

With the single head design, the head can be accessed privately through a locking door from the master stateroom or through a door from the hallway. When two heads are chosen, the only access to the master head is through the master stateroom, and the guest head is through the hallway or the guest room.

EQUIPMENT

Well Equipped

Experienced boaters will appreciate that all North Pacific Yachts are designed so that equipment, wiring and plumbing is easy to access. There are numerous hatches throughout our boats, headliners are attached with Velcro, and screw caps are used to make removal of teak wiring chases and other access panels easier. In order to ensure accessibility, the NP44 Sedan is built and varnished before most of the wiring and equipment is installed.

We only install top quality, brand name equipment to ensure safer and easier long-term operation of our boats. The equipment list is continually evolving as new and innovative products become available. If we feel that the ownership experience would be enhanced by adding equipment or upgrading the standard list, we make those changes.

Mechanical Equipment

The North Pacific 44′ Sedan is powered by a single Cummins 355 QSB 6.7L engine. The 355 is a good choice, pushing the NP44 along at 7-10 knot cruise with a top speed of about 11.5 knots. Larger engines are available for higher top speeds. Twin engines and get-home engines are also available for redundancy.

With the single engine configuration, the propeller, shaft and rudder are fully protected. This reduces the risk of hitting logs in the Pacific Northwest or the bottom on the ICW. Standard equipment on the NP44 Sedan includes a large rudder and oversized 24v Sleipner bow thruster, giving you the control and maneuverability that you need to make docking easy.

Electrical Equipment

Wiring on the NP44 Sedan is second to none. It is tinned, color coded, numbered, and runs through clean and well-laid-out wiring chases. A quiet Northern Lights generator with sound shield and water/gas separator, Victron pure sign wave inverter/charger, 160-amp alternator and a large AGM battery bank means you’ll have plenty of power. If you are looking to extend your time at anchor without running the generator, solar panels are available as well as lithium battery options.

Sanitation and Plumbing

The NP44 is plumbed with PEX hoses and compression fittings for a long lasting and very reliable system. Heavy duty dual Marco freshwater pumps and an accumulator tank are used for quiet and reliable operation. A 200 gallon fiberglass fresh water tank is located centerline in the bilge with easy access through a floor hatch. The 20 gallon electric water heater is located in the engine room.

Engine Room

The engine room on the North Pacific 44′ Sedan is spacious and well lit. The engine room is finished with perforated aluminum paneling giving it a clean and bright look. All wiring and plumbing is neat and tidy in chases. The engine room is well insulated with quality 2″ foam/rubber/lead sound dampening insulation. In addition to this, rubber is installed on the aluminum floor grid to isolate the salon floor from noise and vibration. Access to the engine room is through two hinged, salon floor hatches. With 4.5′ of headroom, many people can partially stand while they move around this engine room. There is plenty of space around the engine and generator to comfortably access all areas. The NP44 Sedan comes with a standard oil change system for the engine, transmission and generator, making oil changes a breeze.

There are two 200 gallon fiberglass baffled fuel tanks in the engine room. If you desire extended range and cruising, the boat can be built with two 350 gallon fuel tanks for a range of over 1,700 nautical miles.

Floor Structure

All floors in the North Pacific 44′ Sedan are held up by an interlocking aluminum floor grid. Unlike wood, this will never sag or swell over time, and it adds strength and rigidity to the vessel.
